After exploring various possibilities for the space - in the last couple of weeks since we opened our doors we've had a workshop (guitar masterclass), a forum (on Baguio's worsening air quality) and a concert (Ian Paolo Acosta's EP launch) - we will be launching The Living Room's Weekend Cafe this July.
While we try to fill up our weekends with exclusive performances, presentations and other art-related events, we are also excited to just have guests over for a good cup of Coffee or a steaming bowl of Hungarian Goulash.
We mainly serve dishes that we, the family, serve at our dining table...
Chicken Rosemary is a family comfort food. It's simply baked chicken smothered in rosemary and other Italian herbs.
We also love Lamb - whether as grilled chops, burgers or roasted and sandwiched.
When we first tried our hands at running a cafe more than a decade ago, we had an Iranian friend teach us how to make home-made yogurt, falafels, raita, etc., and we still love making and sharing them with friends to this day.
Pasta is another Altomonte household staple and comfort food... nothing fancy, just good old Bolognese with generous amounts of Italian sausages, rich and creamy Carbonara, Rl's simple yet very tasty Aglio e Olio.
We have yet to come up with a better name for it than CamoTEA, our very own version of ice tea flavored with camote tops brew. It's quite refreshingly good.
The weekend cafe will be open from 10am-7pm.
And one more thing - if there's no rain, we set the tables up out on the veranda. It's quite nice out there at sunset.
